What is a Hobohideout.com Traveling
Webmaster?
A Hobohideout.com Traveling Webmaster is essentially a traveler who seeks
to drastically reduce their travel expenses and extend their journey by
making internet pages for hotels in exchange for free accommodation. Any
traveler can do this, and they only need to make an arrangement with a hotel
or hostel and start loading up photographs and text. No money is exchange
during this deal by any parties, and the Traveling Webmaster program
essentially works on the premise that it is far easier to save $20 than it
is to make $20. This is simply a trade of labor and time on the part of the
traveler for living accommodation in the hotel, and Hobohideout.com provides
an easy means for this to happen.

Can I really travel the world and live for free by
making internet pages for hotels?
Yes, it is possible. I do it. I am
Hobo
Pato and I began trading internet pages on Hobohideout.com for hotel rooms in the spring of 2008 in Guatemala. I have
since traveled across Europe living for free by working hard and making
hotels good, SEO optimized web-pages. This works well for me and, Andy, the
creator of Hobohideout.com has previously traveled the world for two years
by making similar website trades for hotel rooms. Exchanging Hobohideout.com
internet pages for accommodation is essentially a free promotion for the
establishments that you make them for, as most hotels/ hostels are rarely
filled to capacity. So helping hotels make these pages are good for the
hotel, the traveler, and for Hobohideout.com, as it allows the site to grow
and continually become a better travel resource.
How many days can I live in hotels/ hostels for free as a
Traveling Webmaster?
Generally, from my experience, I say that 7-14 days is a fair trade. I
have found that the pages that I've put up on Hobohideout.com come up well
in the Google index and really do drive both internet and foot traffic to
the hotels that I have made them for. But to make these pages well takes a
good amount of time, and I would not recommend trading for less than 7 days.
But this all depends on the deal that you make with the hotel owner, your
own travel plans, and personal preference. I generally go for 10 days, but I
have stayed for as long as 14, and sometimes (like in summer time Europe
where hostels are packed) I go for a simple 7 days. This is all up to you. I
say try going for two weeks, and, if the hotel is not having it, settle for
a week and a half or even one week. I usually tell the hotels that the
longer they can provide me with accommodation the more work I will have time
to do on their web-pages and the better their hotel will be promoted.
How much time does it take to make a website for a hotel/
hostel on Hobohideout.com?
I suppose this all has to do on how efficiently you work, the quality of
your equipment, if you carry your own laptop computer, if you work on
a hotel's free WIFI or if you have to use internet cafes, how many days you
arranged to stay at the hotel, and an entire host of other factors.
Basically, I like to work for around one hour a day on the Hobohideout.com pages, and the longer I stay at a hotel, the more work I
will put into their site. In point, I have found that a basic site on
Hobohideout.com takes around 7-10 hours to complete, but I have put more
time into this pages for longer stays. It all depends on how many days of
free accommodation the
hotel is willing to trade.
One hour a day of work is a good trade for a full night of accommodation.
What equipment do I need?
Basically, this is up to the traveler. The more prepared you are to work
on the internet the better you will be able to make pages on Hobohideout.com.
If point, if you carry your own laptop computer with appropriate video and
photo programs and a digital camera you will probably be able to make the
hotel websites much quicker and a little better than if you relied on public
computers.
It is my opinion that you need to have at least a digital camera to be
Traveling Webmaster. A laptop with a photo editing program that allows you
to change the sizes of photos is also highly useful.
I just use a regular digital camera and an Asus Eee PC laptp ($300- USA) to make the Hobohideout.com pages. In this way I
am usually able to do this work at my leisure and in my own room.
What types of hotels/ hostels should I try to trade with?
I usually try to go for mid-range hotels or hostels that have free
WIFI access in the rooms or in a comfortable common area (make sure you try
the internet connection before making a trade). This is my choice preference, but it is
possible to make Hobohideout.com pages from internet cafes.
You do not have to live in squalor to be a Traveling Webmaster, as it has
been shown that it is the upper and mid-range hotels who are more likely,
and more financially able, to trade a room for a free promotion. Don't be
afraid to go big and live in comfort if you want to.
